Cause an effect.

It's a shockingly obvious ethos: doing meaningful work with a high performing team is simply more fun.

Design doesn't just fill space — it shapes how people feel, connect, and heal. Every project we take on is a chance to move something forward.

Inpatient Experts

Design that Performs Under Pressure.

Inpatient environments are ultimately about people — the patient facing the hardest day of their life, the family beside them, the nurse who will walk these floors ten thousand times. Every eases their experience or complicates it. A shorter path to the bedside returns minutes to patient care. A room that holds a family overnight changes how healing feels. A sightline that lets a clinician see without disturbing protects both safety and rest. We design for those moments because they are the whole point.

Inpatient design demands more.

Nowhere is the margin for error thinner than in acute care. Infection control, code, clinical adjacencies, staff workflow, and patient dignity all press on the same square foot, and every one of them has to be right. This is where BA is at its strongest.

We were built for it.

Our healthcare roots taught us to design for people at their most vulnerable, where nothing gets simplified away. We interrogate the complexity, decide on evidence, and hold the details others overlook. Those details determine whether a building performs at 3 a.m., not just on opening day.

What's New

Here's what we've been working on lately. These are our newest projects, the ones still warm from the studio, where the ideas behind the new BA show up in built form. Different sectors, different challenges, one firm.

Our
Research

How do thoughtful teams solve hard problems? What happens when you get comfortable with complexity? Our insights and case studies document our thinking across diverse projects—the decisions, the debates, the details that shift outcomes. And the research that moves us forward.
