AdventHealth Parker is undertaking a transformative expansion to address the growing healthcare needs of the southeast Denver metropolitan area. This ambitious project includes the construction of a new 186,000 s.f., seven-story patient tower and the renovation of 40,000 s.f. of existing hospital space. The expansion is designed to enhance access to high-quality, whole-person care while supporting the hospital’s long-term growth and operational efficiency. The new patient tower will feature four operating rooms, with two additional rooms shelled for future use, along with 16 pre- and post-operative rooms, 60 new medical/surgical beds, two cardiac catheterization labs, and two interventional radiology labs. It will also house a new sterile processing department, and the upper floors (levels 5 through 7) will be shelled to accommodate future ICU or med/surg beds. In the second phase of the project, 40,000 s.f. of existing space will be renovated to expand the pharmacy, gastrointestinal department, and pre/post-operative areas. Infrastructure improvements are a key component of the expansion, including an upgraded central utility plant, a relocated helipad, and an expanded loading dock to improve logistics and support services. The emergency department will also be expanded to better serve the community’s urgent care needs. The design incorporates lean practices to streamline workflows, virtual reality tools for stakeholder engagement, circadian lighting to support patient recovery and staff wellness, and sustainable strategies for energy efficiency and intuitive wayfinding.
