PROJECT NARRATIVE

This 12,000-square-foot tenant improvement of a medical office building reimagines the infusion experience for arthritis patients who have come to view treatment as a shared, social experience. Rather than pursue a conventional infusion model defined by curtains and partitions, the team designed an open, community-oriented treatment area that allows patients to connect with one another while receiving care. Clear sightlines throughout the space support clinical staff in maintaining visibility and oversight across the full infusion bay, balancing social connection with attentive patient monitoring.

The program brings together infusion and its support spaces, exam rooms, a research lab, lab and X-ray with associated support areas, administrative functions, and a staff break area within a cohesive footprint. Waiting and reception set a hospitality-driven tone from arrival, with decorative lighting, a coffee and hydration station, and feature tile work that elevate the space beyond a typical outpatient clinic. A material palette of muted greens and browns, paired with wood-look finishes, brings warmth to the environment and reinforces a sense of comfort rather than a clinical feel.

By integrating treatment, research, and clinical support functions into a single environment, the completed space serves as a multifunctional destination for arthritis care. The result is a facility that prioritizes dignity and long-term engagement, giving patients a setting that feels welcoming and giving caregivers the visibility they need to deliver attentive, high-quality care.
