Sequoia Adult Day Center

PROJECT NARRATIVE

This 19,830-square-foot project sought to bring an innovative model of adult day services to fill a much-needed gap in an underserved community. The PACE model delivers an active, engaging environment for seniors, with a great room for gathering and board games, a dining room, specialized memory care amenities in a controlled space, a salon, spa, rehabilitation space, and outdoor spaces. A small clinic providing health services, including dental care, is also available on site.

The team's challenge was to adapt an existing office building into a vibrant, welcoming hub. Working with little existing information on the building, the team uncovered the beauty hidden within its structure and used it to create an open, grand space for the main community areas. As is common across many similar projects, the team drew upon recent experience with a comparable project for the client, carrying over lessons learned to iterate and improve the design.
