Elk Grove Adult Day Center

Elk Grove Adult Day Center

PROJECT NARRATIVE

The center was developed to support the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), providing an integrated healthcare environment designed to help older adults remain independent while receiving coordinated medical, rehabilitation, and social support services. The project is a 21,391-square-foot ground-up PACE center created to serve the growing needs of the region's senior population, including a large great room and dining space, speech therapy, a rehabilitation gym, a spa bathroom, an OSHPD 3 clinic, and staff support spaces.

Designed around the PACE model of care, the facility brings together healthcare, wellness, and community-focused services within a single destination, supporting comprehensive care delivery through clinical services, therapeutic programming, social engagement opportunities, and day-use functions that encourage aging in place and improve quality of life for participants. The project expands WelbeHealth's growing network of PACE facilities throughout California, reinforcing its mission of providing coordinated, person-centered care for older adults. For this ground-up project, the team was able to leverage lessons learned from the design of previous WelbeHealth facilities, allowing a streamlined design process and efficient implementation of the established prototype; the consistency of the template, combined with the team's accumulated experience, supported a smooth and predictable design cycle.

Experience in senior living, adult day health, and PACE environments informed the design approach, emphasizing flexibility, operational efficiency, accessibility, and participant wellbeing. The facility was planned to create a welcoming environment that balances healthcare delivery with community engagement, supporting both participants and caregivers through thoughtfully designed clinical and gathering spaces, contributing to the broader healthcare infrastructure within the region while advancing innovative models of care for aging populations.
