Spaceflight Headquarters

PROJECT NARRATIVE
Spaceflight is a premier launch and in-space transportation services provider, offering routine, cost-effective access to space for innovators. This adaptive reuse project converts a former shoe manufacturing facility into a state-of-the-art aerospace headquarters, uniting Spaceflight's previously separated office and production locations under one roof, expanding the company's footprint while significantly improving operational efficiency.
The central feature of the project is a 2,400-square-foot ISO 8 cleanroom production facility within the repurposed manufacturing warehouse. Equipped with a 30-foot by 50-foot crane, the high bay cleanroom supports the construction and assembly of space vehicles slated for orbit via rocket transport. The cleanroom enables Spaceflight to process four to five of its proprietary Sherpa satellite dispensers simultaneously, each accommodating four to twenty satellites, a substantial increase over the previous production space, which could handle only two Sherpas at a time.
Transforming the facility required the relocation of a 3-ton capacity high bay crane, the installation of a custom-built dock lift, and comprehensive structural, fire protection, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing improvements to meet stringent aerospace standards. The design also carefully shapes the flow of visitors and employees through the space to comply with export control laws governing the exposure of non-US citizens to sensitive space-related technologies.
